Ketut, a dirt-poor Balinese farmer, nurses a badly injured tourist back to health following a horrific accident. But when his “patient’s” family turn up looking for answers, his simple life is turned upside down.
SYNOPSIS
On returning home from working his field, Ketut, a dirt-poor farmer, comes across an unconscious foreigner, a victim of an accident. Unwilling to leave the injured young man to fate, Ketut returns home and begins to nurse him back to health using traditional medicine, massage, and prayer. The patient regains consciousness but has no idea what happened or even who he is.
While Ketut takes full responsibility for his patient and the land he works, his sole source of income is being sold from beneath him and could soon disappear under the weight of developers dozers. As the sale proceeds, Ketut's patient Ben recovers his memory and contacts his family, who has been desperately searching for him. The family arrives at Ketut’s home in full force - all 12 of them. Ketut is terrified that he has inherited an entire family to look after, but Ben’s family only wants to understand why someone with so little would so selflessly look after a stranger.
