Human displacement occurs by force, accident or design. A young artist’s search for identity in a new culture within the larger theme of human displacement, Pornsuk is an accomplished artist suspended between two cultures: in Thailand, he is considered a foreigner because of his parentage and in Australia he is a foreigner because he comes from another country. He comes to Australia to search for his estranged father, hoping to fulfill his half-empty life after his mother died. He begins life in Brisbane with an Australian friend he met in Thailand, who shares a house with young men from Mexico, New Zealand and China. Pornsuk is influenced by their vibrant, natural behavior and realizes what he really yearns for is a sense of belonging.
