Juliette, a female rights activist, has her unflinchingly jaded worldview spun around when she goes on an unplanned road-trip with Wayan, a young Balinese woman who challanges her interpretation of freedom.
SYNOPSIS
Juliette runs out of gas on an impromptu motorbike tour and is lost, stumbling about in the dark until rescued by Wayan, a young Balinese woman, who provides shelter in her small home. This chance meeting becomes an extended stay and an odd-couple, friendship blooms. Juliette is shocked to discover that in this 21st century, Wayan has never left her village community, so she pushes her into taking a road-trip adventure. As they travel through Indonesia's rural, patriarchal heartland, their different worldviews become a point of conflict.
